The most beautiful trails for trekking in Campania
What do you think, first thing first, when someone pronounces the word “Campania”? The answer appears quite obvious (actually, a series of answers!): Naples, Pompeii, Capri, the Amalfi Coast, the Royal Palace of Caserta, pizza, mozzarella and baba.
But what if we told you that this splendid region offers, among other things, numerous trekking opportunities to all lovers of nature walks?
“Unexpected Campania”: this could be the perfect headline if we were to create an advertising campaign aimed at sponsoring trekking in this fantastic region; but since we at Sail And Experience have the desire to share with our public the most useful information about their sailing holiday in Campania, here is a series of natural routes that we want to recommend, which you can access if you choose to organize your itinerary with us. Are you ready? Let’s go!
Trekking on Mount Epomeo in Ischia
Who said that Ischia is only about the sea and trendy clubs? If you love hiking, the Green Island offers you a wonderful mountain path that will take you to the conquest of the peak of Mount Epomeo, the highest peak of Ischia and of all Campi Flegrei. Starting from the municipality of Serrara Fontana, you will cross a splendid chestnut forest at the end of which you will reach the top of the mountain: from here you can admire a unique panorama, which embraces the entire Gulf of Naples and, during the clearest days, the Lazio coast and the Pontine Islands.
Path of the Gods
It is one of the most famous trekking routes in Campania; the Path of the Gods is approximately 9 km long and connects the municipality of Agerola with Positano, unravelling along with one of the mountain ridges that characterize the Sorrento peninsula on one side and the Amalfi Coast on the other. You’ll spend almost 7 hours covering it and this path allows you to enjoy breathtaking views that go as far as the island of Capri, walking through the uncontaminated and lush nature of the Lattari Mountains. A real “must” for all those who wish to organize their boat holiday to discover the coast.
Path of the Lemons in Maiori
Let’s stay on the Amalfi Coast and discover the wonders of the Path of the Lemons, which connects the municipalities of Maiori and Minori through an evocative path made of steps, colours and of course the scent of lemons. Here, climbing up the heights of the Amalfi Coast, it will be possible to admire the view from above and rediscover an ancient dimension that echoes the traditions of the place, inviting us to embrace a “slow” lifestyle in contact with nature.
Path of the Passetiello in Capri
When it comes to trekking in Campania, we cannot leave out the island of Capri, one of the most popular destinations for all those wishing to organize their vacation in these latitudes. In particular, we like to point out the so-called Path of the Passetiello, a real must for those who love hiking. You dive headlong into the Mediterranean scrub that characterizes the Blue Island, into the eye-catching landscape scenarios and the Capri traditions. It is a path that connects Capri and Anacapri: you’ll spend about 3 hours covering it and, given the rocky nature of the place, we suggest wearing suitable shoes and clothes. Don’t worry: the view of the Gulf and the Faraglioni will make you exclaim: “It was worth it!”
Path of the Menaica
We close this roundup by talking about Cilento, a boundless place in some ways which perhaps deserves a separate article given the size of the area and a large number of trekking paths worthy of mention; here we want to point out the Path of the Menaica, which although not officially part of the marked trails in the Cilento Park, offers the opportunity to discover some villages including Ascea and Pisciotta, and to admire some of the most beautiful and hidden beaches in these parts.
