Sailing around Sorrento
Sorrento, the inspiring muse
Sorrento is a beautiful town that has inspired great artists and is celebrated in many films, books and songs. It is an iconic city that still retains that elegance of old times, in every detail. It’s not by chance that still today you can see the features of that bygone era blended harmoniously with our days: it is a sign of a great ability to look at the future without betraying the past.
Sorrento is also a beautiful seaside town and reaching it by sailing boat is exciting, both for the unique view from the sea and for the sensation of arriving in that small harbour full of history like so many famous personalities. Sorrento by sea is an incredible sight.
The buildings overlooking the sea
The first thing you’ll notice about Sorrento, arriving by sailboat, is the extraordinary beauty of the ancient buildings and hotels overlooking the sea, located on the cliffs that mark the entire perimeter of the city. An unusual image of extraordinary beauty.
Going ashore you can go up towards the centre of the town and admire all the other attractions of Sorrento, from the Villa Comunale to the beautiful streets, full of characteristic shops and restaurants offering Sorrento culinary specialities.
Not just limoncello
Sorrento is famous for its gastronomic specialities and, above all, for a particular liqueur, the “limoncello”, produced with lemons from the Sorrento peninsula. But if you’re a food enthusiast, Sorrento has much more to offer than limoncello: from the first course to dessert, you’ll never be disappointed.
Sorrento is also art and culture: the Correale di Terranova Museum where Greek, Roman and Capodimonte porcelains are exhibited, is a must. But few things speak the language of art like arriving in Sorrento by sailing: it would be a shame to miss that view!
